General Info
  • Scorpions are most active at night
  • They are commonly found in the Southern states and warmer coastal states
  • Scorpions must have water but can survive for months without food
Where They Live
  • Scorpions can be found under rocks, woodpiles, or other debris
  • Indoors, they are often found hiding in dark secluded areas like crawl spaces, basements, closets, and storage areas
What They Want From You
  • Scorpions enter your home looking for food (other insects), a secluded or quiet place to hide, or to escape the heat
Why They’re A Problem
  • Scorpions are feared for their poisonous and painful stings
  • If stung, seek medical attention immediately (particularly if the pain persists or spreads, or if other more serious symptoms like chest pain, labored breathing, difficulty in swallowing, blurred vision, numbness, vomiting, diarrhea, or abdominal cramps occur)
Tips & Tricks
  • Remove hiding places like rocks, wood mulches, woodpiles, or other debris from the foundation of your home
  • If you live in an area where scorpions are common, always check your shoes, gloves, sleeping bags, etc. for scorpions before use
